Pipe relining is one of those plumbing solutions that is much easier to understand when you can actually see the result.
This recent job in Sydney’s North Shore shows the difference clearly. Our CCTV footage captured the condition of the existing pipe before relining, followed by the finished pipe after a new structural liner was installed.

The Problem
Our CCTV drain inspection identified an ageing section of pipe that had deteriorated internally.
Damaged and deteriorating pipes can contribute to recurring blockages, allow tree root intrusion and eventually lead to more significant drainage problems if the underlying issue isn’t addressed.
Rather than excavating and replacing the affected section of pipe, we were able to repair it from within using pipe relining.
The Solution: Pipe Relining
The pipe was prepared before a new liner was installed inside the existing pipe.
Once cured, the liner forms a strong, smooth new pipe within the old one, effectively renewing the damaged section without the extensive excavation normally associated with traditional pipe replacement.
The before-and-after CCTV footage shows the result clearly: the deteriorated internal pipe surface has been replaced by a smooth, continuous relined section.
Why Relining Instead of Digging Up the Pipe?
Where conditions are suitable, pipe relining can repair damaged underground pipes without digging up large sections of the property.
That can mean:
- Minimal excavation and disruption
- No unnecessary removal of paving, landscaping or other finished surfaces
- A smooth new internal pipe surface
- Protection against future tree root intrusion through the relined section
- A long-term repair to the damaged pipe
Importantly, we don’t recommend relining every blocked drain. We first use CCTV equipment to inspect the pipe and identify what is actually causing the problem. This allows us to determine whether the pipe needs cleaning, a localised repair, relining or another solution.
